Thank you very much for your kind invitation. I did visit your site and found it very well done. My heartiest congratulations on a site that I know will be successful!

Hi. I have seen your art on the internet and I like it. It seems like the coolest homepages are those of artists. New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology is planning to release a new project called the "Artists' Den" onto the web. The Artists' Den is a visual database containing links to thumbnails (small pictures) of various forms of art. Each piece of art also has a title, price, dimension infor- mation, artist information and a set of keywords which is used for searches. We would be pleased if you would enter your art into our database.
The address is: http://www.cs.nmt.edu:7890
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
I noticed you added some far-out sculptures to the den. I have never seen anything like this before. So tell me... how do you keep the egg from breaking when you sculpt it? Also, have you ever broken one when it was almost completed?
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
Congradulations! STEPPEN' STONES proudly commends your 'Egg Shell Sculptures' website as a... ..."TOP ROCK"...link! Your site has been recognized as part of our ongoing search for nothing less than the highest in quality and content. In our opinion your site has been created with virtually the same integrity and passion as the art that it represents. Your selflessness and effort displayed unquestionably benefit our education, as well as the preservation of the history of the art contained here.

Your site has been selected for the Crafty Art Link of the Day for Nov 12, 1996 by CKS-INFO. ... Nice job on your site.

Subject: Music! Never have I had such a delightful surprise on the internet. I viewed your site and was just finishing reading the first paragraph and wammmmo. Music. Delightful music. Thank you.

I'm Keith and would like to say this is the first page I've responded to with a comment. I think it's pretty nice. I'm starting to fool around with web pages and animations. I put a bookmark on this page for I think I'll be refering to it a lot. By the way, I read your wish list and let me make a little suggestion. If you want to save a bundle and get a better product look into Cyrix. The 686's are tearing up Pentiums and are much more price friendly, I personaly will run nothing but.
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
Congratulations ! I am very proud to present the "Orchid Award for Page Excellence" award to you in recognition of your hard work in the creation of such an excellent page.

Great info, but why doesn't it allow me to print so I can have a reference?
RESPONSE:
Perhaps because the background is red - which may print black - or you may be trying to print it before it fully downloads into your browser. Try waiting until you are sure "document is done" or however your browser reads. You also have our permission to copy it to your hard drive (select copy as or save as from the file menu) so you may refer to it later. Also, it would be easier to print if it were local to your computer. Please check back to our page(s) in the next 15-30 days as we will be making some important upgrades. To follow are a listing of same. Best of luck on the net!

I was crusing through the net to learn how to make a home page and came across your page. I am not an experienced webber and i have tried to install a few plug ins - I thought with no luck. I was sitting reading your hme page and all of a sudden I had music. Blew my mind! Too Cool! Thanks for the first experience.

Great Site! Just bookmarked it, and I expect to be visiting it often. I have a Free-Stuff Page which has *lots* of links to Promotion Site. There are two things about my site that are different from others. On the one hand, it is completly in Spanish. I see you have no link sites for spanish-speakers. Another is that link sites are categorized by country. This way, people can find where to link from specific countries. I add more links every week, so my page will grow steadily. I call my page Free Resource Page (Pagina de recursos GRATIS)
RESPONSE:
You are correct! I would be please to add yours if you would send me your URL. Now, I would like to invite you to visit my prized site at http://www.magicalweb.com/eggshell/ Your personal invitation is attached. I will look forward to corresponding with you further.

I am new at all of this and I hope you will help me. I have more than one page and I would like for them to have links to each other but I dont know how to get a code to put into my first page to reach my second. CAN YOU HELP?? you can even call me at ...
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
Subject: Thanks! Thanks for all of the help! Your web page helped me on a project with virtually no budget and an a.s.a.p deadline. Do you know of any inexpensive (free) tools which generate icons out of gif or pic files?
RESPONSE:
Good question! I've been looking for a program that will do the reverse! The following is an excerpt from a newletter I receive from CNET. You may want to subscribe - it's mostly service and almost no ads! Very unusual! Glad our page could help you. You can also get help from http://www.magicalweb.com/help/journey9.htm.

Subject: Help !!!!! My name is Michael Koppenol......I'm doing a web page assignment. I have recently read your excellent page and mind you my page is coming slowly along. My only question is this : Is it possible to put my page outside my University server????? I lould like to put this page on the "web" so that when people search for a topic my page would be called up ????? I'd really appreciate your help
RESPONSE:
Can your University's server be accessed from outside sources? If so, then all you need to do is submit your URL (web page's address) to search engines to "get the word out." ie: some of my pages are on GNN, some are on aol. The web address of my Help You Link page is http://www.magicalweb.com/help/helplink.htm.
Some of my husband's art work is on display at New Mexico's Institute of Mining & Technology in a new project called the "Artists' Den". The address there is http://balor.cs.nmt.edu:7890/ Click on sculptures and then select Louie Delgado. That will lead you around to his page. Most University's servers are accessable from the outside world. Look at my "signature" at the end of this page for my other addresses or URL's. Journey9 is a web tools & other info page that might help you. Let me know if you need more info.

Subject: Informative!!! Hello, I'm fairly new to the web and I own my own business. I plan on creating my own page but it is very overwhelming out there. Thanks for the great info. I'm sure it will help a lot!!!!

Subject: Help! I read your web page and is really very usefull. I'm from Argentina and I'm trying to improve a very modest web page I made and I have a question. Excuse me for bothering you but I know that you can save me A LOT of time if you give me some guidelines: How can I create a Newsgroup?. Or where can I find this information?
RESPONSE:
Interesting you should ask! I just came across a site that allows you to create a newsgroup - for free! The 1st 2 URLs are for that site. The second 2 are for Netscape & Internet Explorer. Netscape Gold Beta 3.0 is free right now as is Internet Explorer. If you don't have 1 of these 2 you are missing a lot! You will need one or the other to utilize the site I have mentioned. If this site does not fill your needs, let me know, I remember surfing across something about creating newsgroups & will keep an eye out for you! I have listed some sites we've developed at the end of this message. You're welcome to surf over to them! Thanks for writing.

Thanks a lot for your valuable help!! By the way, I don't want to be "heavy" but I have now two more questions: 1)How do you do to send me a mail with adresses that I can "clik" on them and directly being able to access them! Do I need a specific software? Were can I download it from? The reader of the Mail also needs to have that software? 2)I have Netscape 3.0. Do you really recommend me to to to the Gold Beta? Is it free for ever? Or just for the demonstration period? I was not able to find it in the Netscape page. Where is it?
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
I took a look at your page of explanations for web authoring at http://www.magicalweb.com/help/journey9.htm and wanted to say thanks for your efforts there. A nice piece of work. The way I came to get a look at your site was by searching for an answer posed to me by my brother who is trying to incorporate graphics into a web page he is working on and finding out just how much space they take up. I am aware that there are techniques for reducing the physical data size of graphic images but do not know any details. Thus I am cruising around and finding pages such as yours.
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
Thanks very much for your reply and the information that you provided. I appreciate your taking the time. Your web site is wonderful and the work you do appears to be exquisite. I have book marked the site for both reasons. On the graphics stuff (size and so forth). Is there any way to reduce the size other than manipulating the physical dimensions (i.e. 300 X 200, etc.). It seems that I saw some reference somewhere that talked about reducing the color depth. I am curious about thumbnail images also. How do you make your those beautiful GIFS such as the opening graphic at http://members.aol.com/Engrvd/engrave1.htm ?? Or the Bridal Engraving type of GIF for that matter....are you making those from scratch or combining some other premade piece of work? I have Paintshop Pro and Adobe Photoshop just waiting for me to dig into them if that is what I need to do. I made a simple little GIF for my home page that I actually enjoyed putting together. It is, never the less, pretty simple. Take a quick look and tell me what you think of that. See the URL address below.
RESPONSE:
Regarding graphic "size and so forth": Yes there are other ways in which to manipulate "byte" size (pun intended! LOL :-) ) Go to http://www.magicalweb.com/help/gif.htm These are banner samples that I have used w/Link exchange. The explanations for same you will find there.

I change my mind later the same day and deleted my first web page and address. I have created a new and better page but have only been able to change 2 subscriptions- Link Exchange and Link star - Question: should I just resubmit to the others or should I contact each one to edit my existing information.

I just wanted to thank you for your very informative web page. I just built my first web page as a project for a college class. Unfortunately I hadn't found your page yet, so I struggled through as best I could. I just think it is really great how people share what they have learned with others. Maybe I'll create a 'real' page now!
E-MAIL RECEIVED:
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your web page and have "bookmarked" it for future reference. I'm in the process of building my page and as I stumble around cyber-world in search of ideas and tools I was glad to find your page!

Hi ... was bummin around tonight and came across your very insightfull web page offering tips to newbes ... thanks for being there :-) Had a question regarding the CorelDraw export to gif format for use on html pages. Seems every time I try to use this method, two things happen: (1) the file sizes are large...typically on the order of 200k to 500k; and, (2) if I used text in corel, it tends to show up blured upon bringing up the exported gif file. have you any procedural recommendations so I can avoid these problems?
RESPONSE:
I actually use CorelDraw Photo Paint - which is usually packaged in with CorelDraw. If you are able to use black and white - you can use a much larger .gif than in color - larger meaning physical size - not file size. For example, if you go to http://members.aol.com/Engrvd/engrave1.htm, the first .gif that comes up is quite large physically, but loads quickly because the file size is small. Any time you use a full color .gif, you will have to reduce it's size to an acceptable "loading" size. I try to keep mine under 100K. You may notice that .gifs tend to look larger on a browser than on your off-line desktop programs - so this helps a little. If you have something you want to show larger, considering a smaller .gif with a hyperlink to the larger size, so if someone wants to view the detail, they can click to the larger size and check it out but they won't get bored waiting for your initial page to load. For an example go to http://www.magicalweb.com/shangrila/details.htm. When it comes to text, I found I had to make the text the correct size after I created the main .gif the correct size otherwise it can become blurry.
